Wulingyuan Lightning Protection System Passes Acceptance
On December 28, the lightning disaster prevention system construction project in Wulingyuan, a core scenic spot in Zhangjiajie City, successfully passed the joint acceptance organized by the national and provincial tourism bureaus and meteorological departments. This marks the permanent settlement of the lightning disaster prevention system "network" in Wulingyuan's core scenic area.
The core scenic spot of Wulingyuan has always been one of the "high-risk" scenic spots prone to frequent lightning disasters. Meteorological disasters such as heavy rain, freezing, lightning, and heavy fog have caused serious harm to tourism reception and also affected the sustainable development of tourism. With the care and support of the National Tourism Administration and the China Meteorological Administration, the 2012 Wulingyuan Core Scenic Area Lightning Disaster Prevention System Construction Project was identified as a demonstration construction project for tourism meteorological services. In August of the same year, Wulingyuan District Tourism Bureau and Hunan Provincial Lightning Protection Center signed the "Cooperation Agreement on the Construction of Lightning Disaster Prevention System in Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Zhangjiajie". During the implementation of the project, the National Tourism Administration, China Meteorological Administration, Hunan Provincial Tourism Bureau, and Hunan Provincial Meteorological Bureau provided strong financial support and assistance. As the construction unit, the Provincial Lightning Protection Center organized expert technical forces to scientifically implement the construction in accordance with the agreement, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
Protection System Includes Multiple Monitoring Devices
According to Wang Zhigang, director of the Provincial Lightning Protection Center, the lightning disaster prevention system construction project in Wulingyuan core scenic spot mainly includes the project's six-element automatic weather station, atmospheric electric field instrument, outdoor full-color large-screen electronic display, lightning channel multi-function locator, and research and development of lightning, fog, freezing (road icing), and heavy rain early warning and forecasting methods, Zhangjiajie meteorological disaster monitoring and early warning business system, preparation of scenic spot lightning risk zoning, scenic spot comprehensive service system development, etc., and the installation of lightning protection facilities in rest pavilions. The total investment in the project is 5.18 million yuan.
Completion to Improve Scenic Area Service Levels
After the completion of the lightning disaster prevention system in Wulingyuan core scenic spot, it will play an important role and significance in improving the management and service level of the scenic spot, effectively preventing meteorological disasters such as lightning and heavy rain, ensuring the safety of tourist reception, promoting the construction of smart tourism, and better serving tourists. Wan Qikun, deputy director of the People's Government of Wulingyuan District and deputy director of the Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area and National Forest Park Administration, said that after the project is put into operation, we will make full use of this platform to carry out early warning, forecasting and prevention of meteorological disasters in the scenic area, and minimize the impact of meteorological disasters on tourism reception.
