Why two days

The park is large and its peak forests are spread out. Two days is a comfortable pace that covers the core areas. The ticket is valid for 4 days with unlimited re-entry, so you can go back in the next day without rushing.

Day 1: Yuanjiajie + Yangjiajie

  • Enter at the Wulingyuan landmark gate → Shuizhaosi → ride the Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie;
  • Tour Mihun Terrace, the First Bridge Under Heaven and Hallelujah Mountain (Qiankun Pillar);
  • Shuttle to Yangjiajie and see Wulong Village and the Tianbo Mansion peak walls;
  • Stay in Wulingyuan town; stroll Xibu Street in the evening.

Day 2: Tianzishan + Ten-Mile Gallery

  • After entering, take the shuttle or cableway up to Tianzishan and tour Yubi Peak, Xiannü Sanhua and Helong Park;
  • Ride the Tianzishan Cableway down, then transfer to the Ten-Mile Gallery;
  • Ride the mini-train or walk past the Old Man Gathering Herbs and Three Sisters Peak, then exit.

Tips

  • On both days try “elevator up, cableway down” to avoid backtracking;
  • Staying in Wulingyuan town is most convenient — easy for entering, exiting and transfers.

FAQ

What are the highlights and features of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park?
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was China’s first national forest park and is the core of the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage site. It is famed for more than three thousand quartz-sandstone pillars — “an enlarged bonsai, a miniature wonderland.” The key sights are Yuanjiajie (Hallelujah Mountain), Tianzishan (Yubi Peak), Golden Whip Stream and Huangshizhai; a visit usually takes 2–3 days.
Can I finish the Forest Park in one day?
Yes, but only the highlights. The park is large and a full visit is best over 2–3 days; for one day, focus on Yuanjiajie + Tianzishan.
How should I arrange Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan and Golden Whip Stream?
The classic combo is “Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie, shuttle to Tianzishan, Tianzishan Cableway down,” covering the two biggest areas in one day; Golden Whip Stream is flat and good for an easy hike on another day.
Yuanjiajie or Tianzishan — which is more worth seeing?
Both are highlights: Yuanjiajie for the shaped peaks of “Hallelujah Mountain” and the First Bridge Under Heaven, Tianzishan for Yubi Peak and wide panoramas over the sea of clouds. If time is tight, visit both (link them with the elevator up and the cableway down); if you must pick one, choose Yuanjiajie for dramatic peaks or Tianzishan for open cloud-sea views.
