Water-Splashing Dragon Parade Ignites Carnival Atmosphere
On July 21, the Zhangjiajie Tujia "June 6th" Folk Culture Festival opened, and the water-splashing dragon set off a carnival climax. The Zhangjiajie water-throwing dragon, also known as the "watering dragon", evolved during the Tang Dynasty from the Bai people who immigrated to the local area. It is very popular in Xiyin Village and Mojiagang Village, Yinjiaxi Town, Yongding District. It is a form of praying for rain and blessings by the local Tujia, Bai and Miao ethnic groups during hot and dry seasons.
