On May 28, the author saw at Shili Gallery in the core scenic area of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie that the damaged squat baffles, water faucets and wall tiles of the tourist toilets at the upper and lower stations had all been replaced with new ones. In accordance with the rectification opinions put forward by the 5A-level scenic spot review team of the Provincial Tourism Bureau, Wulingyuan core scenic spot invested more than 3 million yuan at one time to improve the quality of existing tourist toilets in advance. Currently, the 21 toilets involved have been basically renovated.
5A Re-Inspection Highlights Prominent Restroom Issues
In the review of 5A-level scenic spots organized by the Provincial Tourism Bureau in March, problems such as serious damage to tourist toilets in core scenic spots, insufficient squatting seats, filth, messy signs, and insufficient water supply were prominent. In response to this problem, Zhu Yongwen, Secretary of the Wulingyuan District Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Scenic Spot Administration Bureau, Chu Xinnian, District Director of the Wulingyuan District People's Government and Director of the Scenic Spot Management Bureau, and other leaders went to the core scenic spot for many times to conduct field surveys and on-site work. Solving the problem of tourists' "difficulty in going to the toilet" was placed as a top priority in the implementation of rectification in the core scenic spot. In accordance with the principle of "prioritizing the easy and then the difficult", the scenic area administration took the lead in carrying out preliminary renovations of 21 tourist toilets in the tourist distribution areas of the core scenic spots. Each toilet has a list of rectifications, including replacement of toilets, sewage pipes, wall renovations, water and electricity lines, water supply facilities, etc. At the same time, the completion time limit and specific standards were clarified. While improving the quality of the toilets, we will also increase the management of daily cleaning and maintenance of the toilets to ensure that the toilets are clean and tidy and extend the use time as much as possible.
This year, the National Tourism Administration launched a nationwide tourist toilet construction and management campaign to ensure that clean, odorless and free toilets cover scenic spots across the country. Wulingyuan, as one of the first batch of 5A-level tourist attractions in the country, will use this opportunity to continuously improve tourist toilets in core scenic spots to achieve the requirements of "sufficient quantity, clean and odorless, practical and free, and effective management".
