Wulingyuan's Sea of Clouds Welcomes Visitors on the Second Day of Golden Week

October 2, the second day of the National Day Golden Week. After the rain cleared at Wulingyuan, the core scenic area of Zhangjiajie, a World Natural Heritage site, seas of clouds drifted around such highlight spots as Yangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and Huangshizhai, and the "Avatar"-like fairyland left Chinese and foreign tourists stunned. Zhu Yongwen, Secretary of the Wulingyuan District Party Committee, who was inspecting tourism reception on site, told this reporter that tourism transport, accommodation and other reception services in Wulingyuan are currently in good order with ample capacity, and visitors from all places can come to Wulingyuan with confidence.

It is reported that the core Wulingyuan scenic area, world-renowned for its unique Zhangjiajie landform, has a daily carrying capacity of 111,380 visitors and an instantaneous capacity of 62,000. Statistics from the district tourism work committee show that on October 1, Wulingyuan received more than 54,000 visitors in total, up 27.1% year on year. Of these, 12,812 entered the core scenic area, up 13.2% year on year. The figures show that the daily carrying capacity of Wulingyuan scenic area is far from being reached.

Multiple Departments Join Forces to Ensure Tourism Reception

Today this reporter saw at Wulingyuan's Shuiraosimen, Huangshizhai, Shili Gallery and other scenic spots that cadres at the division level from the Wulingyuan District Party Committee, the District Government and the Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area and National Forest Park Administration led teams, while public security, armed police, tourism, traffic police, transport and other functional departments worked together and devoted full efforts to frontline reception support. Support forces and emergency preparations were especially strengthened at the three key passenger transfer hubs: the Bailong Elevator, the Yangjiajie Cableway and the Tianxia Diyi Bridge parking lot in Yuanjiajie.

Traffic Police and Armed Police Patrol to Keep Roads Clear

Ensuring smooth access traffic is the top priority of this year's Golden Week reception. On the Zhangqing Highway and Yanglong Highway leading into Wulingyuan scenic area, this reporter saw that in addition to road traffic signs and warning lights everywhere, traffic police, armed police and public security officers patrol the roads without interruption. Especially in Wulingyuan urban area and at the entrance to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, traffic police and public security have deployed several times their usual number of officers to direct and guide traffic and keep it flowing.

Eco-shuttle Dispatch Avoids Long Queues

Not letting visitors wait in long queues in the scenic area and staying in service until the last visitor comes down the mountain — this is Wulingyuan's solemn promise to visitors from all places this year. At the dispatch and command center of the eco-shuttle service, this reporter saw that passenger flows at all major stations and terminals are clear at a glance on the electronic display screens. Heads of the district tourism, public security, traffic police and eco-shuttle units sat at the command post, dispatching reception capacity in a timely way and guiding a reasonable spread of visitors. It is understood that the Bailong Elevator, where queues were previously the longest, now operates all three elevators at once, greatly easing the queuing problem. The district tourism bureau is actively coordinating with travel agencies to choose routes reasonably among Yangjiajie, Huangshizhai and Tianzi Mountain, and encourages visitors to walk up and down the mountain. According to the head of the office of the district tourism work committee, more than 2,000 cadres and staff have so far taken part in support work across the district, all up-and-down routes in the core scenic area are clear and orderly, and the scenic area has ample transport capacity.

Ample Beds and 5,000 Parking Spaces Open

Come to Wulingyuan and you are guaranteed a room to stay in and a place to park. This reporter learned from the Wulingyuan District Tourism Bureau that hotels, distinctive guesthouses and family inns in Wulingyuan have ample beds and can accommodate 50,000 people at the same time. Wulingyuan urban area has also opened more than 5,000 public parking spaces, and all government office compounds across the district offer free parking. So visitors from all places need not worry about finding a room or a place to park.
