Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie ushered in the summer tourism peak and there is still a large space for reception

Summer Vacation Brings Tourism Peak to Wulingyuan

As summer vacation tourism continues to surge, Wulingyuan, a world natural heritage site in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, is experiencing a peak in tourism reception. Since mid-July, popular tourist routes such as Yangjiajie, Yuanjiajie, Shili Gallery, Tianzi Mountain, and Huangshi Village have been crowded with tourists.

Visitor Growth and Reception Capacity

According to statistics from the Wulingyuan District Tourism Committee, on July 18, Wulingyuan received nearly 50,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 50%; the Bailong Elevator received more than 21,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 79%; the Yangjiajie Cableway received nearly 14,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 562%; Huangshi Village The ropeway received more than 5,500 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 67%; the Baofeng Lake Scenic Area received more than 5,900 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 87%; the Shili Gallery Sightseeing Tram received more than 6,800 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 48%; the Huanglong Cave Scenic Area received more than 7,600 visitors, a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%.

The relevant person in charge of the Wulingyuan District Tourism Committee said that although the number of tourists received by various scenic spots (spots) is booming across the board, Wulingyuan scenic spot has many spots and long tourist routes. Judging from the current reception situation, the daily carrying capacity of the scenic spot is far from reaching the data released by the National Tourism Administration. It can be said that Wulingyuan still has a large reception space, and Chinese and foreign tourists can come for sightseeing with confidence.

Response on Queuing and Accommodation

The phenomenon of long queues in scenic spots is the most concerning issue when receiving peak tourists. It is understood that the Bailong Elevator, which used to have the longest queues of tourists, completed expansion and upgrade of all three elevators in July this year, and its capacity increased to 6,000 people per hour. Coupled with the effective diversion of the Yangjiajie Cableway and Huangshizhai Cableway, the up and down mountain passages in the core scenic area of Wulingyuan are basically smooth and orderly. At the same time, Wulingyuan also invested in 251 environmentally friendly vehicles to ensure transportation capacity.

Rumors online that it is “hard to find a room” are not true either. It is understood that the number of hotels, specialty inns, and family hotels in Wulingyuan area exceeds 50,000 beds, and the average occupancy rate is around 70%. However, the demand for occupancy in small and medium-sized hotels and specialty inns priced below 400 yuan is relatively large.

In order to ensure the reception of summer tourism, the Wulingyuan District Tourism Committee has comprehensively strengthened all aspects of security and command and dispatch to ensure that tourists are safe and satisfied in Wulingyuan.
