China National Tourism Administration Announces Creation List
(National Tourism Administration) The National Tourism Administration recently issued the "Notice on the Announcement of the List of Creation of China's International Characteristic Tourism Destination" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"). It stated that after voluntary declaration by local governments, recommendations from provincial tourism departments, and review and identification by experts organized by the National Tourism Administration, 30 tourist destinations including Zhangjiajie in Hunan were approved to create China's international characteristic tourism destinations.
The "Notice" emphasizes that China's international characteristic tourism destinations are an important carrier to meet the diverse tourism needs of the people, an effective way to promote the construction of characteristic tourism products, and a strategic starting point to expand the international influence of my country's tourism industry. Each founding unit must strengthen its main responsibilities, formulate a creation plan, clarify the leadership organization of the creation work, and use "internationalization, distinctiveness, and quality" as the standards to effectively carry out key tasks such as the exploration and protection of tourism resources, planning and promotion of tourism image, cultivation and creation of tourism brands, enrichment and promotion of tourism products, improvement and improvement of tourism infrastructure and public service facilities, and continuously improve international attractiveness, international recognition and comprehensive service levels. Tourism departments at all levels should attach great importance to it, increase their guidance on the creation work, coordinate all parties to strengthen policy support and financial support for the creation work, guide them to improve the level of tourism planning and design, support them to promote the image of tourist destinations, enhance regional tourism public service capabilities, improve the tourism environment of tourist destinations, provide special and high-quality tourism products and services for the people and tourists at home and abroad, and play a positive role in local economic and social development.
The "Notice" requires that the creation of China's international characteristic tourist destinations will take two years in principle. Each founding unit must organize carefully and pay close attention to implementation. All localities must promptly report on the effectiveness of their creation work. The National Tourism Administration will organize experts to inspect the results based on the progress of the creation work. Those that pass the acceptance inspection will be awarded the corresponding brand title of China's international characteristic tourism destination.
