Assessment Team Arrives in Zhangjiajie for Inspection
On the morning of January 14, the National Green Tourism Demonstration Base Certification Team came to Zhangjiajie and conducted a comprehensive inspection and certification of the establishment of a national green tourism demonstration base in Zhangjiajie City. The report meeting was chaired by Hang Chunfang, leader of the certification team and deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Bureau. Du Fanglu, member of the Standing Committee of the Zhangjiajie Municipal Party Committee and executive deputy mayor of the Municipal People's Government, and Zhou Fang, vice chairman of the Zhangjiajie CPPCC and deputy director of the Municipal Tourism and Foreign Affairs Committee, attended the meeting.
Listening to Self-Assessment Report and Review Report
At the reporting meeting, the identification team listened to the self-evaluation report on the creation of a national green tourism demonstration base in Zhangjiajie City and the review report from the Hunan Provincial Tourism Bureau. Zhangjiajie is a world-famous tourist area, with 6 gold-lettered signs including China's first batch of World Natural Heritage, the world's first batch of geological parks, the world's "Zhangjiajie Landform" named place, the first national forest park, China's first batch of 5A scenic spots, and a national civilized scenic tourist area. At the same time, Zhangjiajie is also a national key ecological functional area. The city's forest coverage rate reaches 70.98%, and Wulingyuan's forest coverage rate reaches 85.28%. The air in the core scenic area is rich in negative oxygen ions. The negative oxygen ion content in some areas is as high as 100,000 per cubic centimeter, and 4,000 species of organisms coexist harmoniously. In 2015, the city's scenic spots (spots) in Zhangjiajie received a total of 50.75 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 30%; received 22.3 million overnight stays, a year-on-year increase of 31%; and achieved total tourism revenue of 34 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 37%.
Assessment Team Affirms Creation Achievements
The recognition team fully affirmed the creation of Zhangjiajie, believing that Zhangjiajie’s tourism resources are scarce and unique, it attaches great importance to ecological protection and management services, and measures such as scenic spot construction and tourism marketing are in place, which meets the necessary and general conditions for creating a national green tourism demonstration base. The identification team recommended that Zhangjiajie should strengthen the construction of a tourist city, accelerate the development of tourism products to comprehensive tourism, leisure, and vacation, launch multiple types of tourist accommodation, special food streets, special leisure spaces, etc., and improve various supporting facilities such as individual tourist reception facilities and self-driving reception facilities.
Du Fanglu welcomed the arrival of the certification team. He said that Zhangjiajie will take the recognition of the national green tourism demonstration base as an opportunity and be problem-oriented to focus on strengthening green facility planning, green product development, green transportation construction, and green environment creation. It will deepen the creation work and achieve results, and actively build a well-known domestic and foreign tourist destination with original ecology, unique style, reasonable layout, supporting facilities, international standards, high civilization, and everyone's desire.
