On December 28, the sixth session of the Sixth People's Congress of Zhangjiajie City opened. The government work report delivered by Zhangjiajie Mayor Wang Zhigang to the General Assembly on behalf of the Municipal People's Government pointed out that entering the "13th Five-Year Plan", Zhangjiajie City will fully enter the era of high-speed rail and tourism economy.
Zhangjiajie Municipal Party Committee Secretary Yang Guangrong fully affirmed the remarkable achievements in the city's development during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period. He also pointed out that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, Zhangjiajie City is still in a critical period of quality improvement and upgrading and climbing over hurdles. It is also a golden period with rare opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Development opportunities and challenges coexist, and overall the opportunities outweigh the challenges.
Tourism Data and Five-Year Goals
During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the number of tourist visits to Zhangjiajie City's scenic spots increased from 24.05 million to 50.5 million, and the total tourism revenue increased from 12.5 billion yuan to 33.9 billion yuan. The report proposes that by 2020, the regional GDP will exceed 70 billion yuan, the general public budget revenue will exceed 7 billion yuan, and the total tourism revenue will exceed 70 billion yuan.
With the rapid development of tourism, transportation will play a vital role. The report pointed out that after entering the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", Zhangjiajie City will fully enter the era of high-speed rail and tourism economy. In 2016, the first year of the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, Zhangjiajie clearly listed the Guizhou-Zhangjiajie High-speed Railway, Zhang-Sang Expressway, Hehua Avenue, Wulingshan Avenue and other projects as top ten key projects. Strive to start construction of projects such as the Zhangjihuai High-speed Railway and Sanglong Expressway. At the same time, the preliminary work of the project will be accelerated to ensure substantial progress in projects such as Yizhang, Zhangxin Expressway and Anzhang-Heng Railway, and strive to include the Yizhang High-speed Railway in the country's "13th Five-Year Plan" or the medium and long-term planning of the railway network.
