At noon on October 13, several outdoor enthusiasts said excitedly after climbing up Chestnut Hill in the Huajuan Road Neighborhood Committee, Jundiping Street, Wulingyuan City District. It is understood that Wulingyuan's unique "Zhangjiajie landform" is mainly divided into three forms: peak wall, peak cluster, and peak forest. However, you can enjoy these three landform wonders at the same time on Banli Mountain.
Geographic location and landforms of Banli Mountain
Banli Mountain, formerly known as Guanzhen Mountain, was later renamed due to the abundance of chestnuts on the mountain. It is about 3 kilometers away from Wulingyuan City, across the river from the Baizhang Gorge Scenic Area, and close to the Chaqiyu Neighborhood Committee of Xiehe Township. It has more than 100 acres of fertile land and two green stone roads leading to the top of the mountain. Most of the two villager groups in the Picture Scroll Road Neighborhood Committee are Deng, Mao and Peng. Before the tourism development in Wulingyuan, local mountain people lived a self-sufficient "paradise" life because of its remote location. After the development of tourism in Wulingyuan, many young people in Banli Mountain came down to start their own businesses, while middle-aged and elderly people still stayed on the mountain to "watch the scenery." After the rise of self-guided tours, various beautiful scenery in Banli Mountain began to move from behind the scenes to the front.
Industry insiders believe that it is rare to see the "Zhangjiajie Landform" in the three forms of peak walls, peak clusters, and peak forests at Banli Mountain. In addition, the aboriginal life in the mountain is rich, and the preserved stone roads and terraces are also rare cultural landscapes.
