How to plan three days

Three days adds Huangshizhai and Golden Whip Stream to the two-day highlights, for a slower, fuller visit — ideal for photographers and families with seniors and children.

Day 1: Yuanjiajie + Yangjiajie

Ride the Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie to see Mihun Terrace, the First Bridge Under Heaven and Hallelujah Mountain; transfer to Yangjiajie for Wulong Village and Tianbo Mansion; stay in Wulingyuan town.

Day 2: Tianzishan + Ten-Mile Gallery

Go up to Tianzishan for Yubi Peak, Xiannü Sanhua and Helong Park, then take the cableway down to the Ten-Mile Gallery — by mini-train or on foot.

Day 3: Huangshizhai + Golden Whip Stream

In the morning ride the Huangshizhai Cableway up for the summit loop views; in the afternoon enter Golden Whip Stream from the Forest Park gate and walk along the stream to Shuizhaosi for an easy finish.

Tips

  • The ticket is valid for 4 days, so a three-day plan is relaxed;
  • Schedule the most tiring day when you are freshest;
  • Bring rain gear and grippy shoes in the wet season — the odds of a sea-of-clouds shot are actually higher.

FAQ

What are the highlights and features of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park?
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was China’s first national forest park and is the core of the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage site. It is famed for more than three thousand quartz-sandstone pillars — “an enlarged bonsai, a miniature wonderland.” The key sights are Yuanjiajie (Hallelujah Mountain), Tianzishan (Yubi Peak), Golden Whip Stream and Huangshizhai; a visit usually takes 2–3 days.
Can I finish the Forest Park in one day?
Yes, but only the highlights. The park is large and a full visit is best over 2–3 days; for one day, focus on Yuanjiajie + Tianzishan.
What does the Forest Park admission include?
The admission covers entry to core areas such as the Forest Park, Tianzishan, Yangjiajie, Golden Whip Stream and the Ten-Mile Gallery; it is valid for 4 days with unlimited re-entry. In-park transport (Bailong Elevator, Tianzishan Cableway, shuttle buses) needs separate tickets.
How should I arrange Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan and Golden Whip Stream?
The classic combo is “Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie, shuttle to Tianzishan, Tianzishan Cableway down,” covering the two biggest areas in one day; Golden Whip Stream is flat and good for an easy hike on another day.
