Walking Golden Whip Stream
Golden Whip Stream runs about 7.5 km, from the Forest Park gate (Zhangjiajie Village) along the stream to Shuizhaosi. It is flat the whole way with almost no climbing — the easiest stretch in the park and perfect for seniors and children.
Along the way
- Golden Whip Rock: the landmark spire rising beside the stream;
- Tiaoyu Pool and Zicao Pool: clear pools, cool in summer;
- Wild macaques: common along the trail — do not feed or tease them, and keep your food packed away.
Tips
- The full walk takes about 2–3 hours; at the end you can shuttle or take the Bailong Elevator to continue;
- The valley is humid with many insects — wear grippy shoes and bring insect repellent;
- After rain the stream rises and the path is slippery — watch your footing.
