What to see in Tianzishan

  • Yubi Peak: several slender pillars standing shoulder to shoulder like upside-down brushes — an iconic Zhangjiajie image;
  • Xiannü Sanhua: a peak crowned like a fairy scattering flowers, next to Yubi Peak;
  • Helong Park: a wide viewing platform, a classic spot for the sea of clouds and the full peak panorama.

Transport

Ride the Tianzishan Cableway up or down (2,084 m long, 692 m drop, about 5 minutes), or connect with Yuanjiajie by shuttle bus. Cableway operation is affected by weather — subject to on-site notice.

Best time for the sea of clouds

The sea of clouds appears mostly on clear mornings after rain with a big day-night temperature difference. It is most likely in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November); take the first cableway up to secure a spot.

FAQ

Do the Bailong Elevator and Tianzishan Cableway need separate tickets?
Yes. In-park transport such as the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzishan Cableway and the Ten-Mile Gallery mini-train all require separate tickets — buy one-way or round-trip as needed.
How should I arrange Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan and Golden Whip Stream?
The classic combo is “Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie, shuttle to Tianzishan, Tianzishan Cableway down,” covering the two biggest areas in one day; Golden Whip Stream is flat and good for an easy hike on another day.
Yuanjiajie or Tianzishan — which is more worth seeing?
Both are highlights: Yuanjiajie for the shaped peaks of “Hallelujah Mountain” and the First Bridge Under Heaven, Tianzishan for Yubi Peak and wide panoramas over the sea of clouds. If time is tight, visit both (link them with the elevator up and the cableway down); if you must pick one, choose Yuanjiajie for dramatic peaks or Tianzishan for open cloud-sea views.
What does the Forest Park admission include?
The admission covers entry to core areas such as the Forest Park, Tianzishan, Yangjiajie, Golden Whip Stream and the Ten-Mile Gallery; it is valid for 4 days with unlimited re-entry. In-park transport (Bailong Elevator, Tianzishan Cableway, shuttle buses) needs separate tickets.
