Xibu Old Street Proposed for 4A Rating
Xibu Old Street in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie may become the first 4A-level intangible cultural scenic spot in Wulingyuan, the core scenic area of Zhangjiajie. On January 2, the website of the Hunan Provincial Tourism Bureau is announcing the last day for six units including Zhangjiajie City’s Xibulo Street Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Base to be approved as national 4A tourist attractions. As a result, Xibu Old Street may become the first 4A-level intangible cultural heritage scenic spot in Wulingyuan, the core scenic area of Zhangjiajie.
Xibulo Street Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Base is located in Zhangjiajie on the bank of Suoxi River in Wulingyuan City. It covers an area of about 100 acres, has a total construction area of 70,000 square meters, and a total investment of 400 million yuan. Its modern architecture perfectly combines the local customs and Miao charm of western Hunan.
Software and Hardware Upgrades and Intangible Heritage Performances
Since 2013, with the goal of creating a national 4A-level tourist attraction, the Xibulo Street Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Base has comprehensively upgraded the scenic area's software and hardware facilities, attracting a large number of Western Hunan intangible cultural heritage inheritors to perform Maogus dance, Tujia Daliuzi, Sangzhi folk songs, hand-waving and other intangible cultural heritage in the neighborhood every day. It has increased the cultural connotation of Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a world natural heritage site, and promoted the construction of the "urban village" renovation project in Wulingyuan City.
It is also reported that in addition to Xibu Old Street, Hunan Province also participated in the announcement of national 4A tourist attractions including Changsha Qianlong Lake Ecological Tourism Area, Hengyang Shigu Academy Scenic Area, Changde City Chengtou Mountain Tourist Area, Chenzhou City Banliang Ancient Village Scenic Area, Huaihua City Tongdong Huangdu Dong Cultural Village Tourist Area and other units.
