Choosing the right transport matters most

The park is huge. Making good use of the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzishan Cableway and the shuttle buses saves most of the climbing, so seniors and children can tour comfortably.

A low-effort combination

  • Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie → shuttle to Tianzishan → Tianzishan Cableway down, forming an “elevator up, cableway down” loop;
  • Golden Whip Stream is flat all the way — good for strollers and slow walks with seniors;
  • Ten-Mile Gallery has a sightseeing mini-train with almost no effort.

Safety and comfort

  • The summit temperature varies — bring an extra jacket for children and seniors;
  • Viewing platforms are near cliffs — hold children’s hands and avoid crowding at the railings;
  • Wild macaques snatch food — don’t hold snacks in your hands;
  • Food choices on the mountain are limited and pricey — carry your own water and snacks.

FAQ

Is it convenient with children and seniors?
Yes. Making good use of the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzishan Cableway and shuttle buses saves a lot of climbing, so seniors and children can tour comfortably; Golden Whip Stream is flat throughout. Mind the safety of cliffside platforms and bring an extra jacket.
Can I finish the Forest Park in one day?
Yes, but only the highlights. The park is large and a full visit is best over 2–3 days; for one day, focus on Yuanjiajie + Tianzishan.
What does the Forest Park admission include?
The admission covers entry to core areas such as the Forest Park, Tianzishan, Yangjiajie, Golden Whip Stream and the Ten-Mile Gallery; it is valid for 4 days with unlimited re-entry. In-park transport (Bailong Elevator, Tianzishan Cableway, shuttle buses) needs separate tickets.
What are the highlights and features of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park?
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was China’s first national forest park and is the core of the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage site. It is famed for more than three thousand quartz-sandstone pillars — “an enlarged bonsai, a miniature wonderland.” The key sights are Yuanjiajie (Hallelujah Mountain), Tianzishan (Yubi Peak), Golden Whip Stream and Huangshizhai; a visit usually takes 2–3 days.
