Self-built inn costing ten million yuan raises national flag
(Wu Yongbing) At 06:30 on October 1, in the residential inn just built by Mao Xun, an aboriginal resident of Wulingyuan City, accompanied by the heroic and impassioned "March of the Volunteers", a five-star red flag 2.88 meters long and 1.98 meters wide rose slowly. Mao Xun, who is in his 60s, said excitedly: "Without the prosperity of the country, we would not have the happy life we have now; without the good policies of the party and the government, it would be impossible to transform our old houses into new inns!"
Mao Xun's newly built inn is located in a prime location in Wulingyuan city. With an investment of nearly 10 million yuan, it covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters and has more than 50 guest rooms. It was the first to build the first all-glass skywalk, sightseeing elevator and open-air swimming pool. The construction specifications and quality are unique in the Wulingyuan inn industry, so Mao Xun named his inn and registered it as "Maosao Inn". In Zhangjiajie dialect, it means a pioneering, excellent and interesting inn.
Urban village renovation gives rise to inns
However, Mao Xun's own ability to demolish the old house and rebuild such an inn is attributed to Wulingyuan District's "urban village transformation" policy. In 2013, the residential houses located on the south side of Wuling Road and the north bank of Suoxi River in Wulingyuan City were included in the Wulingyuan "urban village" renovation project, a local key project. Residents can carry out overall renovation and high-grade design of the houses, and can operate tourist restaurants, tourist inns, tourist shopping stores or hotels. This unprecedented favorable policy allows residents to see potentially huge commercial value in the renovation. After discussion, Mao Xun’s family decided to set an example for the residents along the route, demolish the old houses and build a B&B inn on the original site, take the lead in developing tourist inns, and do their part to improve the quality of the entire Wulingyuan tourist town through their own efforts. Under the leadership of Mao Xun's family, residents with more than 100 houses in the surrounding area have demolished old buildings and built new ones to develop the tourism service industry.
After more than a year of inspection, design and construction, all supporting construction of the inn was completed in mid-August. Mao Xun held a family meeting again and unanimously decided to set the opening date on the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Mao Xun, who once served as secretary of the neighborhood committee, said with emotion that the good life we have today is inseparable from the rapid development of Wulingyuan tourism in recent years, let alone the country's various good policies. On the occasion of today's opening, our whole family is raising the national flag and singing the national anthem to celebrate the 66th birthday of the motherland. This is to educate future generations to carry forward the spirit of patriotism, pass on positive energy, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
