Announcement
Origin of Wulingyuan Scenic Area and the Competition
Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Hunan Province. It consists of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley, Tianzi Mountain, and Yangjiajie Scenic Area, with a total area of 398 square kilometers. The large-scale, magical and spectacular Wulingyuan quartz sandstone peaks and canyons in the scenic area constitute a rare landform wonder in the world - Zhangjiajie Landform, which amazes and shocks the world. After 30 years of development and construction, Wulingyuan Scenic Area has developed from being "raised in a boudoir and unknown to people" to becoming China's first national forest park, the first batch of world natural heritage, the first batch of world geological parks, the first batch of national 5A tourist attractions, and the national civilized scenic tourist area. It has many international and domestic laurels. In early 2010, the "Hallelujah" suspended mountain in the popular science fiction movie "Avatar" was filmed in Wulingyuan; at the end of 2010, Wulingyuan's quartz sandstone peak forest and canyon landform was named "Zhangjiajie Landform" by the International Geological Academic Organization.
In order to further promote the beautiful scenery of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie, the China Photographers Association, "Popular Photography" magazine, the Wulingyuan District People's Government of Zhangjiajie City, Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area and the National Forest Park Administration jointly organized the "Popular Photography" "China's Good Scenery" - Zhangjiajie·Wulinyuan Division Photography Competition. The purpose of this event is to fully display Zhangjiajie’s unique geological landforms, natural scenery, humanities and folk customs and other tourism resources in the form of photography art, and through a series of promotions, exchanges and interactions, so as to further increase Zhangjiajie’s popularity at home and abroad.
