Chen Youcai surveys intangible cultural heritage on Xibu Street
On August 10, Chen Youcai, director of the Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Department, went to Xibu Street, Wulingyuan District to investigate the work related to the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Deng Min, deputy director of the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio and New Affairs, Liu Yaoping, deputy director of the Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Center, Su Fenfang, director of the Wulingyuan District Culture, Sports, Radio and New Affairs Bureau and others accompanied the investigation.
Chen Youcai and his delegation first listened to the report from the person in charge of Xibu Street on the construction of the intangible cultural heritage exhibition and performance inheritance base in Xibu Old Street, and learned in detail about Xibu Street’s experience and practices in building an old street for intangible cultural experience in recent years; then they visited the on-site demonstration of intangible cultural heritage projects such as Tujia brocade, silverware forging, beating and carving skills.
Work affirmed and suggestions put forward
Chen Youcai fully affirmed the work of protecting Xibu Street’s intangible cultural heritage. He pointed out that the true survival of intangible cultural heritage requires folk "soil", and sustainable development is an important part of the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage. He suggested that Xibu Street should be based on the advantageous platform of Zhangjiajie's tourism development. When striving to build an intangible cultural heritage experience street, first, it is necessary to select good projects and strive to implement intangible cultural heritage projects without pollution; second, it is necessary to select intangible cultural heritage projects with tangible products to inject market vitality; third, it is necessary to formulate preferential policies and use social power to promote intangible cultural heritage inheritance. He hopes that Wulingyuan District will continue to innovate and proactively adapt to the development requirements of the times while inheriting cultural heritage, so that cultural heritage can glow with new vitality in Zhangjiajie.
