Rhododendrons bloom everywhere in Yangjiajie Scenic Area
Tourists Recite Poetry While Viewing Flowers by Cable Car
"If you look closely, this thing in the flower is Xi Shi!" On the afternoon of March 13, several self-guided tourists from Guangdong were in the gondola of the Yangjiajie Cableway in Wulingyuan, the core scenic area of Zhangjiajie. They were so surprised to see the azalea monkeys blooming outside the window that they recited an ancient poem. Since early March, thousands of azaleas have been in full bloom along the mountainside of Yangjiajie Scenic Area, welcoming guests from afar with their gorgeous and enchanting appearance.
Yangjiajie Azalea Varieties and Blooming Season
Rhododendron, also known as azalea, is one of China's top ten traditional famous flowers and is known as the "Beauty of Flowers". There are about 530 species across the country. The azaleas in Yangjiajie, Wulingyuan belong to the evergreen azalea group, with mainly pink flowers, beautiful petals and a long flowering period. As the temperature rises in spring, azaleas on Yangjiajie Mountain Top, Yuanjiajie, Huangshizhai, Tianzi Mountain and other high terraces will also bloom, adding brilliant colors to the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a World Natural Heritage Site.
