How do I buy tickets? Tickets
Choose a ticket and ticket type on the homepage or the “Book Tickets” page, fill in the visitors’ ID numbers and phone number, then pay. A park-entry voucher is generated after checkout; enter by verifying your ID card or the original document used for booking.
Do tickets require real-name booking? Tickets
Yes. The park uses real-name reservation; please enter ID numbers matching those who will enter, and verify with the ID card at the gate.
How do I look up my order? Orders
Click “Order Query” at the top, then enter the phone number and ID number used for booking to see the order status and entry voucher.
Can I get a refund? How? Refunds & Changes
Unused tickets can be refunded via “Order Lookup,” returned to the original payment method once approved. Specific rules follow the site’s booking notice.
How do I get to the scenic area? Transport
From downtown Zhangjiajie you can reach the Forest Park gate (Zhangjiajie Village) or the Wulingyuan landmark gate by shuttle bus or a hired car in about 40 minutes to an hour; drivers can navigate to the parking lot at the relevant gate.
Are there discounts for children or seniors? Tickets
Yes. The Forest Park admission offers adult, child/senior and student types at different prices; the specific height/age criteria and discounts follow the park’s notice and the ticket description — choose the matching type at checkout.
What should I bring for entry? Entry
Bring your original ID card; if you booked with a passport or a Home Return Permit, bring that original document. Other special documents should also be brought for verification on entry.
What are the opening hours? Other
Opening hours follow the site’s notices; please confirm by phone before you travel.
What does the Forest Park admission include? Tickets
The admission covers entry to core areas such as the Forest Park, Tianzishan, Yangjiajie, Golden Whip Stream and the Ten-Mile Gallery; it is valid for 4 days with unlimited re-entry. In-park transport (Bailong Elevator, Tianzishan Cableway, shuttle buses) needs separate tickets.
Do the Bailong Elevator and Tianzishan Cableway need separate tickets? In-Park Transport
Yes. In-park transport such as the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzishan Cableway and the Ten-Mile Gallery mini-train all require separate tickets — buy one-way or round-trip as needed.
How should I arrange Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan and Golden Whip Stream? Routes
The classic combo is “Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie, shuttle to Tianzishan, Tianzishan Cableway down,” covering the two biggest areas in one day; Golden Whip Stream is flat and good for an easy hike on another day.
Can I finish the Forest Park in one day? Routes
Yes, but only the highlights. The park is large and a full visit is best over 2–3 days; for one day, focus on Yuanjiajie + Tianzishan.
What are the highlights and features of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park? General
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was China’s first national forest park and is the core of the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage site. It is famed for more than three thousand quartz-sandstone pillars — “an enlarged bonsai, a miniature wonderland.” The key sights are Yuanjiajie (Hallelujah Mountain), Tianzishan (Yubi Peak), Golden Whip Stream and Huangshizhai; a visit usually takes 2–3 days.
Can I still tour on rainy days? Do the cableways stop? General
Light rain usually doesn’t stop a visit — the mist is actually more atmospheric; in severe weather such as thunderstorms, strong wind or ice, the cableways or some trails may be temporarily suspended, subject to the park’s notice.
Can I buy tickets on site? Do I need to reserve in advance? Tickets
The park uses real-name, time-slot reservations; in peak season book online in advance — on-site same-day tickets are limited and often sell out, so don’t leave it to chance.
Is there food on the mountain? General
There are restaurants and snack points on the mountain offering noodles, fast food and drinks, but prices are higher than downtown and choices are limited; bring your own water and snacks, and eat off-peak.
Is it convenient with children and seniors? General
Yes. Making good use of the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzishan Cableway and shuttle buses saves a lot of climbing, so seniors and children can tour comfortably; Golden Whip Stream is flat throughout. Mind the safety of cliffside platforms and bring an extra jacket.
When is the best season to visit? General
September–November offers clear skies and the best visibility, with red leaves and the sea of clouds together — the most comfortable time; March–May brings mountain flowers and mist. Summer is cool on the summit but prone to thunderstorms, and winter offers rime and snow (trails may freeze).
Can I change the date or get a refund? Refunds & Changes
Unused tickets can be refunded or, per the rules, rescheduled via “Order Query”; once approved the refund returns to the original payment method. Tickets already used for entry or expired cannot be refunded — see the ticket notice for details.
Is there left-luggage storage? General
The gates and cableway stations have lockers or left-luggage points for large bags. Space is tight in peak season, so travel light and keep valuables with you.
Yuanjiajie or Tianzishan — which is more worth seeing? Routes
Both are highlights: Yuanjiajie for the shaped peaks of “Hallelujah Mountain” and the First Bridge Under Heaven, Tianzishan for Yubi Peak and wide panoramas over the sea of clouds. If time is tight, visit both (link them with the elevator up and the cableway down); if you must pick one, choose Yuanjiajie for dramatic peaks or Tianzishan for open cloud-sea views.
How long does the Golden Whip Stream walk take? Routes
Golden Whip Stream is about 7.5 km, flat all the way; a normal walk takes about 2–3 hours including photo stops. Enter from the Forest Park gate and exit at Shuizhaosi, then shuttle or take the Bailong Elevator to continue.
Is there lodging inside the park? General
Hotels and guesthouses are available near the Forest Park gate (Zhangjiajie Village), in the Wulingyuan town area and inside the park; in-park lodging is limited and pricier, so most visitors stay in Wulingyuan or downtown and re-enter the next day (the ticket is valid for 4 days). Book well ahead in peak season.
Can I book for others or for several people at once? Tickets
Yes. At checkout you can fill in each visitor’s name and ID number to book for several people at once; tickets are real-name, so each visitor must match the document entered.
Which payment methods are supported? Payment
WeChat Pay, Alipay and UnionPay are supported; the order is confirmed as soon as payment is completed.
How is my booking confirmed after payment? Orders
Once payment succeeds, the page generates the entry voucher immediately and you can check the order status; if you don’t get a confirmation for a long time, use “Order Query” or call the park to verify.
Can one ID card buy several tickets? Tickets
No. Tickets are real-name — one ID card equals one visitor and one ticket, so each visitor must book separately with their own document details.
What if I entered the wrong booking information? Orders
Contact the park as early as possible before travel so staff can verify and assist; if wrong information prevents entry on the day, the booker bears the responsibility, so please check carefully.
What if I lose or forget my ID card? Entry
Bring another valid document such as a passport or a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan residents, go to the manual window at the park entrance, or call the park in advance for help.
Can I re-enter the park multiple times in a day? Entry
Yes. The ticket is valid for 4 days from the booked visit date, with unlimited re-entry from any ticket gate; a second entry on the same day follows the park’s daily requirements.
How long does a refund take? Refunds & Changes
The refund is returned to the original payment account, usually within 1–5 working days; the exact timing depends on the bank or payment platform.
How are concession tickets verified? Tickets
Choose the matching concession type when booking and present the corresponding valid document (student card, senior card, disability certificate, etc.) on entry; a mismatch may prevent entry.
Can unused tickets be refunded or rescheduled? Refunds & Changes
Yes. Unused tickets can be refunded via “Order Lookup”, returned to the original payment method once approved; to reschedule, apply for a refund first and then rebook. Tickets already used or expired are non-refundable. Refunds usually arrive in 1–5 business days, subject to the payment platform’s processing time.
Do children need a ticket? Is entry free under 13? Tickets
Children aged 13 and under (inclusive) enter free, including in-park transport tickets, but need to reserve an insurance ticket; other free-entry groups waive only the admission, and in-park transport must be bought separately — subject to the park’s daily policy.
How many days does the park need? Routes
Allow 2 days to cover the main core sights, or 3 days for an in-depth visit; a one-day trip can focus on the Yuanjiajie + Tianzishan highlights.
What should I do in an emergency? General
In an emergency inside the park, contact park staff or call 110/120 immediately, or call the park number for help in getting in touch.
Which sights are the core ones I shouldn’t miss? Routes
The core ones are Yuanjiajie (Hallelujah Mountain, the First Bridge Under Heaven), Tianzishan (Yubi Peak, the sea of clouds), Golden Whip Stream and Huangshizhai; the Ten-Mile Gallery and Yangjiajie are also worth seeing — two or three days covers the highlights.
What is the relationship between the Forest Park and Wulingyuan? General
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the core of the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage site. “Wulingyuan” generally refers to this area of peak forests — Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan, Golden Whip Stream, Yangjiajie and the Ten-Mile Gallery; visiting the Forest Park means visiting the heart of Wulingyuan.
