He Congfa, the “No. 1 Model Aircraft Model in China”, successfully challenged the Zhangjiajie Bailong Ladder by “flying an airplane”

He Congfa challenges Bailong Elevator

On the morning of September 12, He Congfa, "the first person in China's model aircraft" from Zhuhai, successfully "piloted" to challenge the Zhangjiajie Bailong Ladder in Wulingyuan, the core scenic spot of Zhangjiajie, a world natural heritage site. This is the first time he has demonstrated his flying skills in a tourist attraction.

Model aircraft stunts displayed at viewing platform

Before the challenge, He Congfa demonstrated his superb model aircraft control flying skills to Chinese and foreign tourists on the Bailong Ladder viewing platform. Reporters saw at the scene that under the witness of the poetic and picturesque Zhangjiajie landforms and peaks, accompanied by passionate music, he skillfully controlled the homemade airplane model that had been "fighting hand in hand" at the Great Hall of the People. Sometimes it soared straight up into the sky, sometimes it rolled sideways; sometimes it swooped down, sometimes it hovered upside down...a series of difficult flying performances won bursts of exclamations from the visitors.

Stunt flight challenge inside the elevator car

Subsequently, He Congfa moved to the Bailong Elevator, which is less than 3 meters high, has a maximum capacity of only 64 people, and a running speed of 5 meters per second. Following the rhythm of the elevator climbing, he controlled a model fixed-wing aircraft with a length and width of 1 meter and a weight of only 130 grams to perform aerobatics. The reporter saw in the car that as soon as the elevator started going up, He Congfa controlled the plane to jump simultaneously and quickly left the car floor. However, due to the increased acceleration at the start, the flight speed seemed to be unable to keep up with the rhythm for a while, and he almost fell several times, but He Congfa calmly averted the danger.

When the elevator entered the stage of rising at a constant speed, He Congfa controlled the aircraft to fly in a circle. But what he didn't expect was that there was a large airflow in the car while the elevator was going up. The aircraft weighed only 130 grams, which was too light. It was very difficult to keep the aircraft flying smoothly. The aircraft almost came into contact with the glass car wall several times while circling. He Congfa flexibly manipulated the remote control device in his hand to "get out of danger" time and time again. When the elevator was about to reach the end of its upward journey, its speed slowed down momentarily. He Congfa quickly adjusted the attitude and speed of the aircraft to avoid hitting the roof of the car. After an intense game of 1 minute and 28 seconds, He Congfa successfully controlled the aircraft model and successfully arrived at Yuanjiajie, the upper station of the Bailong Sky Ladder, simultaneously. During the entire process, the model aircraft did not touch the ground, hit the wall, or hit the roof.

He Congfa, who took a deep breath, told the author that flying a model aircraft in a running elevator may seem simple, but in fact it is very difficult. First, the elevator has a small space and runs at a fast speed. It has acceleration, uniformity and deceleration processes. Due to the influence of gravity, the flight speed is difficult to control. Second, the model aircraft is light and has airflow from different directions, making it difficult to maintain balance. Although the challenge in the Bailong Ladder was successful this time, I was still sweating for myself.

Smoke trail performance through the peak forest

After challenging the flying in the car, He Congfa also controlled a large model aircraft to fly through the peaks of Zhangjiajie to perform a smoke-pulling flight show, once again demonstrating his superb model aircraft control and flying skills to Chinese and foreign tourists, which was a feast for the eyes of tourists from all over the world.

Praise for Zhangjiajie's fairyland scenery

He Congfa, who visited Zhangjiajie for the first time, was full of praise for the "Avatar" wonderland in Zhangjiajie. He said that being able to challenge the world's first-class scenic spot and the world's first flight ladder is the most memorable experience in his model aircraft performance career, and he will choose the opportunity to challenge Zhangjiajie again in the future.

He Congfa is the only Chinese model aircraft performer who has won a foreign flying championship ranking. He is also the first Chinese in history to take an airplane abroad to participate in the Paris International Indoor Flying Championship. The Bailong Ladder he challenged this time has just been certified by Guinness World Records as the "Tallest Outdoor Elevator".
